How to Tell Whether LinkedIn Outreach Is Working

Three things a weekly report should show, and one thing to ask for if it doesn't.

Most outreach reports are built to look busy. A big sent count and a bigger impressions count tell you about effort. They don't tell you whether anyone wants to meet you.

The three things a weekly report should show

Mine shows who I reached, who replied and what booked. In that order, every week, in plain words.

Replies matter because they show whether the message landed. They aren't the goal, though. A reply isn't a meeting, so the number you care about is what booked.

What counts as qualified

A qualified call is a booked meeting with a decision-maker in your target market. No leads and no maybes. Here's how I count it:

  • The person books through my booking link, and the questions on that form decide qualified before the meeting.
  • It counts the moment it books.
  • If the prospect no-shows, they get one rebook inside 10 business days. A second no-show drops it.
  • If you're the no-show, or you don't offer a rebook slot, it still counts.

Whatever definition you and a vendor use, get it in writing before work starts. I wrote about why in What Makes a Sales Call Actually Qualified?

If the report only shows totals, ask for the names

A total can't be checked. A named list can. Ask who was reached, who replied and who booked, so you can see whether they're the buyers you wanted. If the names look wrong, the total doesn't matter.

Ask to see the vendor's own funnel

I run everything I'm proposing on my own company first, and every stage is tracked in my CRM. At your audit I walk you through the real numbers, including the ones that aren't flattering. If someone else pitches you this service, ask for the same. You'll learn a lot from how they answer. You can see how I run the work on the LinkedIn appointment setting page.

Common questions

What should a weekly outreach report include?

Who was reached, who replied and what booked, in plain words. If it only shows totals, ask for the names so you can check them against the buyers you wanted.

When does a booked call count?

The moment it books. If the prospect no-shows they get one rebook inside 10 business days, and a second no-show drops it. If you're the no-show, or you don't offer a rebook slot, it still counts.

Sales calls with the buyers you want, booked on LinkedIn.

You record a short video for each person on your list, at a pace we set on your audit call. I build the list, write every script, and run the outreach and follow-up, and the interested ones land on your calendar. We set your target in writing at the audit. If I miss it, I keep working free for up to 30 more days, and the second half of your fee never comes due. Book a call and I'll show you how it works for your business.
